WELCOME TO ONYX GEOSCIENCE ​

ONYX Geo-Science LTD is a Sudanese Geotechnical Service Provider Company established in 2017 as a serious effort to fill in the void in the local market created by the unavailability of other local service providing companies of similar nature and attitude in contrast to the ever growing and fast accelerating oil & gas and mining industries in Sudan.​ ONYX is specialized in Applied Geosciences. It dedicates itself to apply its knowledge, experience and up-to-date methodologies to look outfor, investigate and assist interested companies and individuals to scientifically exploit the surface and subsurface resources of the earth within the local territories and the neighbourhood.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY​

ONYX remains committed to advancing the geo-exploration sector in Sudan. It has partnered with local institutions and international training providers to offer short, in-house geotechnical courses and capacity-building programs. As part of its support for the field, ONYX has developed free basic training and career development programs for recent graduates. Driven by both professional dedication and a desire to nurture young talent, ONYX aims to guide and equip the next generation of geoscientists for successful futures.

ONYX is specialized in Applied Geosciences and Related Fields: It dedicates itself to applying its knowledge, experience and up-to-date methodologies to investigate and assist interested companies and individuals to scientifically exploit the surface and subsurface resources of the Earth within the local territories and the neighbourhood. ​

OUR Timeline

Onyx is and has been a self-funded company from the startup.​
2018 – Strong Start: In six months, ONYX produced 280 oz of gold (~$400K) from Star1, ensuring early self-sufficiency.
**2019 – Strategic MoU:** ONYX partnered with Sudan’s Ministry of Mining, paving the way for future exploration.
2019 ONYX was selected as one of the top 10 investment opportunities in the Sudan mining industry (SIMFE).​
2020 – Key Milestone: ONYX gained official licensing and confirmed 250 kg of gold at Star1, strengthening credibility and project potential.
In 2020 our gold operation remained suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.​
Onyx was also able to secure a commitment from investors in 2020 that totaled up to 500k so as it could be able to resume operation when time permitted.​
2021 – Innovation in Geosciences . ONYX established Sudan’s first-ever gemology laboratory, pioneering advanced testing, research, and certification services in the country.

Our Mission

A key milestone for ONYX is the anticipated government funding to support the expansion of the gemstone sector, aligning with national efforts to diversify income sources and generate employment. This marks a significant step forward in ONYX’s vision to become a leader in the gemstone industry. Strengthened by its existing revenue streams from gold mining and technical geoscience training and consultancy, ONYX is well-positioned to scale its impact and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development.
